As a kid growing up, was there a footy player you loved watching?

A

I grew up in the era of Mark Harris and Bobby McCarthy, Bobby Fulton, Arthur Beetson. These were the heroes, “Changa” Langlands, the great players that were playing when I was around and I loved every one of them. They have been my football heroes but I look around now and there are some of the greatest sportsmen and ambassadors for the game that the game has ever seen. Cameron Smith, Johnathan Thurston – these guys are great advocates for the game. Cooper Cronk (pictured), he is just a fantastic human being and you would be proud to have him at any event you had. He is just a really quality citizen. League is in a great place; we have to sort out a few things to do with the constitution but we’ll do it.

On that topic, the Titans have been among the clubs to be reluctant with the reform vote. Do clubs have anything to fear?

A

“No they don’t. I’m going to talk to the Titans obviously very shortly … I look forward to that. Rebecca Frizelle is a really good citizen and her team are good people. I have always been supportive of the Titans because they have strong links into the community and that’s the strength of the Titans. Dennis Watt coming on board, he is a class act. What the Titans want to do is ask me how I’m going to make the constitution work and I will go and explain all of that. At the end of the day I am going to spend a bit of time there with them and Todd Greenberg will be there with me. While I am neutral about who I support these days, you’ll find I will do everything I can to support the Titans.
