HELP BUILDING A HOUSE
Q
You have recently bought a house at Miami. What’s the plan for it?
A
I got an old surf shack that I think was built about 35 years ago. I’ve been doing renovations to it and I’m about two weeks from moving in. I got it at an auction and gutted it myself. It’s brick house that is really old fashioned.
Q
You had a bit of help gutting the house along the way, though, didn’t you?
A
Yeah I got a few of the boys involved like Peter Wright and Touk. A heap of the boys wanted to help out and it was pretty fun demolishing stuff.
Q
You even had a Gold Coast NRL player giving you a hand didn’t you?
A
Yeah Morgan Boyle (frontrower for the Gold Coast Titans, pictured right) is a good mate of mine and he helped out.
Q
It’s a good way to build some strength for the AFL season but Suns coach Stuart Dew ordered you off the tools one day didn’t he?
A
Yeah he did. I got in trouble one day because I was on the jackhammer and rocked up to training with a sore back. Stuey gave it to me and I haven’t done it since.
Q
How did your teammates respond to the dressing down? I imagine they would have had some fun with it?
A
Yeah the boys give me a bit of stick about it. Every time I have a bit of a sore back they ask if I have been on the jackhammer again. It was just the one day I did it but it was a solid day. I was lifting tiles in the bathroom. The old owner had tiles but put new ones over the top so it was a double layer.
