AHEAD OF THE A-LEAGUE GRAND FINAL, BRENT O’NEILL GOT THE THOUGHTS OF THE GOLD COAST FOOTBALL COMMUNITY

-

DAMIEN BRESIC

(Football Gold Coast GM)

WHO WILL WIN?

My heart is screaming Newcastle for the pure romance but my head is saying Victory. They lost the grand final last year and want to make amends, even though there’ll be overwhelming support for the home team.

IF YOU WERE FFA BOSS, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

I would listen to as many grassroots people as possible and see what is their main concern.

MEL HORWOOD

(Mudgeeraba NPLW player)

WHO WILL WIN?

I will be going for the Jets simply because I have got a mate who goes for them. I think it’s going to be a very close game and probably a low scoreline.

IF YOU WERE FFA BOSS, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

The (growing) focus on the W-League has been awesome so anything to do with expanding that’d be good.

MICHAEL THWAITE

(Western Sydney defender)

WHO WILL WIN?

My heart would probably have to go with Melbourne Victory because I played for Melbourne but my head with Newcastle because they’re playing at home.

IF YOU WERE FFA BOSS, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

I’d expand (the A-League) right away - there’s room for two more teams - and I would run the league independently. I don’t know how that works as a business model but that’s what majority of the leagues (around the world) are doing.

BRETT BUDWEE

(Palm Beach men’s coach)

WHO WILL WIN?

I’m hoping Newcastle. They have been through a bit recently so it would be good to see them win. They seem to have the momentum going into it – the semi final win was a good win – and they have had the week’s rest.

IF YOU WERE FFA BOSS, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

I’d try and make the A-League itself a bit bigger and add a few more teams. HAVE YOUR SAY AT BULLETIN’S FACEBOOK SPORTS FORUM
