Kolodjashnij to start long road back in NEAFL

-

KADE Kolodjashnij will look to build form and fitness when he makes his return from a concussion to football through the midfield for the Gold Coast Suns NEAFL side today.

The defender, who has suffered multiple concussions in the past 12 months, will roll through the centre for a Suns team boasting just 12-listed players for today’s game against NEAFL premiers Brisbane Lions.

Kolodjashnij has been absent since suffering a concussion in Gold Coast’s Round 3 47-point loss to Brisbane.

“Having a low number of listed players means guys are going through a lot of different positions,” Round 6 captain Mackenzie Willis said.

“Kade is a versatile player and will be able to play different positions and you will find it won’t be just him moving through the midfield.

“The strength of our side is our flexibility.”

Willis said improving the contested side of their game was the key to turning their fortunes around at Moreton Bay Sports Complex.

“We have learnt a fair bit since the last time we played and we will put some things in place this time around,” Willis said.

“Our brand has been centred around our contested ball and tackling.

“We got beaten in that area pretty bad last time so that’s certainly an area we will be trying to fix this time.”

Southport Sharks will play Northern Territory Thunder today at Fankhauser Reserve.
