A HUGE search was underway last night after a 12-yearold boy was kidnapped from outside one of the Gold Coast’s top private schools.
Police fear for the safety of Oliver Yang, a student at the prestigious Somerset College in Mudgeeraba.
He was last seen being dragged into a car about 3.30pm yesterday afternoon, just after school finished.
Every available police officer on the Coast was involved in the hunt last night. A Queensland Police spokesman said the boy “may be at significant risk”.
“The boy was last seen on Clover Hill Drive being pulled into a dark hatch,” the spokesperson said.
Police said the vehicle had “a possible Queensland registration 760 TNH”.
“Basically every man and his dog, every crew that would be on that’s not attached to anything else would probably be helping out,” a police media spokesman said.
Officers were speaking with the boy’s family late last night. They were still trying to piece together the circumstances of the abduction but it is not believed to be linked to a family or custodial dispute.
Police issued an amber alert appealing for urgent public help in finding the youngster.
Anyone with information is asked to call 131 564, or 000 if it is “life threatening information about this abduction”.
Thousands of concerned Gold Coasters shared the alert on Facebook. Somerset College also urged people to help find him.
“The police has issued an amber alert for Oliver Yang, last seen today on Clover Hill Drive at 3.30pm,” the post read.
Oliver is described as being of Asian appearance.
He was last seen wearing a white shirt and dark coloured shorts – a description which matches the Somerset College uniform.
