GET MOTOR RUNNIN’ TO ROCK COOLY

-

The ’70s are back, baby!

In a blow to GenXers everywhere, the biggest nostalgia festival in Australia now includes their childhood decade.

Still, what’s not to love about a ’70s revival at Cooly Rocks On? (Other than the reminder that it means you’re officially old.)

Music, dancing, cars, nostalgia and good old-fashioned family fun are all on the program, right here in one of the best destinations in the world.

Established in 2011, Cooly Rocks On has evolved to become Australia’s largest rock ’n’ roll and nostalgia festival and a signature event on Queensland’s and Australia’s event calendar. Set on a combination of outdoor stages and venues within the beachside streetscape of iconic Coolangatta, the highlight of Cooly Rocks On is the destination.

But there are a few other major

attractions as well. In 2018, everyone’s favourite events will be back including the Show ‘n’ Shine, Poodle Parade, Retro Markets, Dance Championships, Miss Cooly Rocks On and the signature Street Parade.

Cars underpin the classic culture and from this year, the cars displayed can be manufactured up to 1978, which now incorporates the heady days of the ultimate muscle car era: the Holden Monaro, the XY GT Falcon, the XU1 Torana and the Trans Am bringing the streets to life with memories of 40 years ago and beyond.

For the first time, there will be a Touring Car Masters display featuring race cars from the ’60s and ’70s when household names Bond, Moffat and Beachy all tamed the Bathurst mountain.

Just remember that there will be road closures throughout the area across the weekend. Coolangatta and Tweed will come to life to celebrate everything we love about the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s.

So get your cars, dancing shoes and best outfits ready for Cooly Rocks On 2018.
