FIRST EXCLUSIVE LOOK AT THE AVIARY ROOFTOP BAR

An new up-market rooftop bar is about to open on the Gold Coast — and partygoers are being urged to dress to impress

INTRIGUE has been building around the northern Gold Coast’s hottest, highest new venue for many months, and now, The Aviary Rooftop Bar is finally here.

On the very top of $25 million, 120 new Mantra apartments at Southport Sharks in Southport — six storeys up to be exact — is a sexy, modern rooftop bar unlike anything the entire Gold Coast has ever seen.

“It’s a mix between an up-market cocktail bar and authentic Italian pizza restaurant with a bit of pop-up thrown in the mix,” Southport Sharks CEO Dean Bowtell described.

“Aviary is a bar you might find in Los Angeles with its elegant decor, soft tones and coastal vibe.

“Outside, The Nest is all about the open-air experience — think outdoor area with pop-up bar, premium outdoor furniture, festoon lighting and an amazing view of Mount Tambourine, creating a magical atmosphere.

“Experiencing The Nest at sunset with your favourite beverage is an incredible sensation.”

With a sound system imported from Belgium, the first of its kind in Australia, this bar might be swanky but people are encouraged to have a good time. Or a wild time, as Mr Bowtell recommended.

And as for what to wear, the calibre of the venue demands a certain standard: “Dress to impress,” Mr Bowtell said.

“While we’re not critical on the type of dress, if you don’t look the part, you don’t get in. Simple as that.”

The Aviary officially opens next Friday from 4pm. It is open MondayFriday and from noon weekends.
