NOTHING TO TELL

Q I always like hearing the story behind people’s nicknames. Yours was Badge. How did that A come about?

There’s nothing about it. It’s just a schoolyard thing. There’s no great story to that. I don’t really tell anyone Q much about it.

OK ... well I’m told you base yourselves in the Northern Rivers region these days. What led you there? A

I grew up in Brisbane so this is where I surfed as a young bloke and I always wanted to get down this way. Q

And you’re OK with living south of the border in enemy territory? A

Yeah, well the last 10 years here has been great!

The word is that you do a bit of assistant coaching for the Tweed Coast Raiders juniors. How do you find that? A

Yeah, I just help out with my nephew’s team in under-12s. I mostly enjoy it when the kids are behaving (laughs). Q

You’ve done a bit of footy TV commentary over the years but am I right in saying radio is your main domain now? A

Yeah that’s it, I do that and a bit of guest speaking. It’s called Crocmedia. It’s a Melbourne-based company. We call every AFL game, we call A-League games, now we’re calling NRL games, we’re doing cricket and we make sports shows during the week. I do a couple with Scotty Sattler each day or each night, so that keeps me off the street.
