Swell direction trends SE and gradually eases over the weekend, opening up clean but small conditions as winds tend light. SE winds turns back onshore conditions early next week with some speculativ­e S swell wrap combined with small windswell to top open breaks.

TODAY

SE swell 2 to 3ft exposed northern NSW breaks early, easing to 2ft during the afternoon. Grading to 1 to 3ft across exposed QLD beaches and smaller inside the points and bays with size depending on exposure. WIND: Light SW to 10 knots early, tending SE during the afternoon.

TOMORROW

Leftover SE swell slowly fades. Slow sets to 1 to 3ft northern NSW southern exposures. Grading to under 2ft exposed southern QLD coasts and smaller elsewhere. WIND: Calm to light SW early, tending S to SE 10 to 15 knots during the afternoon.

MONDAY

Small residual ESE swell and speculativ­e S swell wrap to

south exposures. Winds and S waves on exposed northern NSW breaks picking up to a junky 2 to 3ft during the afternoon. Grading to 1 to 2ft across southern QLD exposed beaches and tiny to near flat inside the points and bays. WIND: Early S 10 to 20 knots, tending SSE 15 to 20 knots during the afternoon.

TUESDAY

Small S swell wrap with additional windswell bump. S sets occasional­ly to 2 to 3ft northern NSW south facing breaks early, grading 1 to 2ft for QLD beaches, and smaller in points and bays. WIND: SE 10 to 20 knots, tending E in the afternoon.

WEDNESDAY

Smaller SE swell with holding onshores. Lumpy sets 2 to 3ft northern NSW open breaks. Grading 1 to 2ft exposed southern QLD coasts and smaller wind waves inside the points and bays. WIND: ESE to 10 knots early, tending 10 to 15 knots in afternoon.
