Syndicate has a golden opportunity
GOLD Coast-based syndicator Ontrack Thoroughbreds is poised for its first Queensland Group 1 success at Doomben today with Savanna Amour a leading chance in the $500,000 Tatt’s Tiara.
Ontrack is Queensland’s biggest syndicator with more than 40 horses on its books and managing director Grant Morgan described Savanna Amour, a last-start winner at Doomben, as the firm’s “pinup girl” and its best chance of a home state Group 1 victory since champion colt Brazen Beau in 2014.
“Brazen Beau was beaten in a photo finish in the Group 1 JJ Atkins at Eagle Farm in 2014 and he went on to score multiple Group 1 victories in Vic“We toria so the Tatt’s Tiara provides a good chance of a first home state Group 1 for the Ontrack all gold silks.
“It’s the dream of every owner to win a Group 1 and we believe Savanna Amour is the best horse in Queensland currently and a genuine chance.
deliberately targeted the Tatt’s Tiara as her grand final and it will be fitting if she can win on the eve of the State of Origin match because she’s a Queensland-bred and trained mare with the majority of owners based locally.”
Brazen Beau was bought out of the 2013 Inglis sale for $70,000 and he won $1.6 million for his 38 owners before being sold to breeding giant Godolphin.
Savanna Amour was one of four yearlings Morgan bought at the 2015 Inglis Classic Sale in Sydney for a total outlay of $240,000, and so far, they have won 21 races and $1.1 million.
Savanna Amour, who cost $100,000, has won seven races for $606,823 from 16 starts.
