FUN GAME WITH A DEADLY SERIOUS MESSAGE

- EMMA GREENWOOD

SOME of the biggest names in the sport hope the serious health messages being promoted in the Deadly Choices Invitational All Stars Challenge are what fans will remember out of tomorrow’s clash at Cbus Super Stadium.

Program ambassadors Preston Campbell, Steve Renouf, Scott Prince and Petero Civoniceva will take part in the clash between the Titans and Broncos alongside some of the sport’s superstars. The clash also marks the return of Titans cult figure Kevin Gordon, who makes his return to Cbus Stadium almost three years after a chronic hip injury forced him to retire.

While Gordon will provide the colour, Campbell, Prince and Renouf hailed the work being done by Deadly Choices and the decision of the Titans and Broncos to back the organisation.

“I think you’ll find most of us are on board because of the messages it’s trying to put across,” Campbell said.

“We realise the potential for work in community – and not just the aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander community but the community in general – because when we’re talking about Deadly Choices, we’re talking about making positive healthy choices for yourself. It’s a great initiative. It’s a genius idea, I think, to associate healthy lifestyle with rugby league clubs.

“When we talk about rugby league, especially in southeast Queensland, so many people associate with the game, so rugby league has always been a great vehicle for positive change.”

The All Stars challenge kicks off at 2pm tomorrow ahead of the Titans-Broncos clash at 4pm.
