WEDNESDAY SURF FORECAST

An extended run of tiny surf forecast for the next week, comprised of a combinatio­n of small-scale ESE and S swells.

TODAY

Mix of short period E windswell and background S swell leftovers. Ranging from 1 to 2ft at best northern NSW southern exposures, grading to 1ft max along exposed Qld beaches and near-flat elsewhere. WIND: WNW to NW 10 to 15 knots, tending light N to NE during the arvo and back to the NNW later.

TOMORROW

Tiny S swell up to 1ft+ northern NSW southern exposures, mixing with slight rising E swell and minor NE wind-chop at 0.5 to 1ft exposed Qld breaks and near-flat elsewhere. WIND: Early light NW to NNW early, tending N and freshening to 15 to 25 knots later.

MONDAY

Underlying E swell mixing with slight, refracted NE windswell up to a junky 1ft+ exposed areas early, virtually flat elsewhere. WIND: NNW 15 to 25 knots tending NW/ WNW during the afternoon.

TUESDAY

Background S and E swells to 1ft exposed beaches, otherwise virtually flat. WIND: Early WSW at 15 to 20 knots tending lighter SW, then variable SE to NE during the afternoon.

Potential for tiny ESE groundswel­l and larger S swell south of the border. Southern Qld: Around 1ft+ exposed beaches. Northern NSW coasts: S swell speculativ­ely 2 to 3ft south facing breaks, grading 1 to 2ft elsewhere. WIND: SW to SSW inshore 5 to 10 knots tending SE at 10 to 15 knots.

THURSDAY

Mix of small-scale E and S swells. Ranging from 1 to 2ft at northern NSW southern exposures. Mixing with slight ESE windswell at 1ft or so along exposed SE Qld beaches and near-flat inside the points and bays. WIND: Light SW to SSW inshore early, tending SSE 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon and freshening to 10 to 15 knots.
