PURCHASE ADDS A LIFT TO THE BUSINESS

MLA Holdings – Australia’s largest forklift sale, rental and services company – has bought Coast business Classic Forklifts to do the heavy lifting on the Glitter Strip.

Classic Forklifts, which has moved to a new facility at Trade Court, Molendinar, following the acquisition by MLA, has been operating on the Gold Coast since 1995.

The new business, called Classic MLA, retains the existing team, including Gold Coast manager Rod Jackson.

Classic MLA business development manager Richard Smith said MLA bought the business to create a stronger presence in the Gold Coast market.

“Classic Forklifts and MLA are a perfect fit for the Gold Coast,” he said. “Classic brings a strong local presence and a good understanding of Coast business needs, and MLA has the experience and strength as the national distributor of Mitsubishi Forklifts.”

He said the acquisition made it easier to reach customers in the Gold Coast and northern NSW, as well as providing synergies with the Brisbane branch at Darra.

Mr Smith said the Gold Coast region was growing, with the Commonwealth Games giving impetus to several infrastructure projects.

“Classic MLA will operate from the new Molendinar facility, supporting our vision to be the materials handling supplier of choice in the Gold Coast/northern NSW region.”
