Demons determined to rewrite script

- TOM BOSWELL

SURFERS Paradise Demons are rewriting QAFL history.

There is something familiar about the Demons’ opening elimination finals game against Mt Gravatt.

Two years ago the Demons were eliminated by the Vultures in the exact same game.

It came after a loss to the Western Magpies in the final round of the regular season but two seasons later Surfers have gone about flipping the script.

Surfers Paradise beat the Magpies in the final regular season game this year and will force the Vultures to come to Sir Bruce Small Park today.

“It’s a bit of history repeating but hopefully we can get the win on the board,” Demons coach Brad Moore said.

Surfers have made two changes for the final with Rene Le Feuvre and Brodie Foster replacing Jack Taylor (ankle) and Jasper Graham (omitted).

Le Feuvre has missed the past two games after injuring his ankle in a best-on-ground performance in the club’s win over Palm Beach Currumbin.

“We would have loved to have Jack in the side because he has been great for us this season but we have a couple of good guys back,” Moore said.

The first week of the finals will be a battle between Gold Coast and Brisbane, with Broadbeach to play Morningside in a qualifying final at Subaru Oval today. The loser will play the winner of the Demons and Vultures next week.
