IN response to Queensland Transport
Minister Mark Bailey’s letter directed at myself, (‘Your Views’, GCB, 31/08) regarding his criticism of Scott Morrison when he was Federal Treasurer who rewarded NSW (an LNP State) with 80 per cent of federal funds for their M1 construction, and only offered 50 per cent for Queensland’s M1 a (Labor State) is for two obvious reasons.
Firstly, the Palaszcsuk Labor Government have had three years to complete their M1 construction to the NSW border having been in power since 2015, but chose to waste untold millions of dollars on other unnecessary projects including the nightmare cost to host the Commonwealth Games and the outrageous annual cost of wages for the 20,000 public servants the Premier hired just to make the State’s unemployment figures look good, a sneaky bit of strategy used by previous Labor Premier Anna Bligh.
Secondly, the Premier during the past 12 months has fired a bottomless pit of insults at Malcolm Turnbull calling him a “scrooge” among many other names, yet Ms Palaszczuk wonders why the Federal Treasurer, at the time Scott Morrison, refused to be generous with Federal funds for Queensland.
The Premier needs to show some diplomacy when demanding funds from a Prime Minister.
I put it to Mark Bailey, would he hand over a large amount of money to someone who just insulted him? I would tell them where to go quick smart.
