Weekend Gold Coast Bulletin

Boating weather arrives

- PEYTON HUTCHINS

IT’S going to be a cracking weekend on Gold Coast waters.

After a slow start to spring the mercury is forecast to rise to a comfortable 26C today, and only dip to a low of 16C tonight.

The perfect boating weather comes as local boat building companies look to expand their range, ahead of a new season.

Riviera chief operating officer Wes Moxey said the Gold Coast was benefiting from the company’s global focus.

“Riviera’s quality has become driven by global demands, which means the Gold Coast benefits from the company’s global focus,” he said.

“The product we produce here is far superior, purely because of the competitive nature of the global market.

“It’s not so much about the boats, but what the boats have to offer and what the individual wants.”

Meanwhile, Maritimo sales manager Ormonde Britton said there were boats trending that haven’t even come out yet.

“There are already people who have started to purchase our X50 sport yacht, which hasn’t even been built yet,” he said

“There is definitely an apparent trend towards the sport yacht design boat, especially single-level given that there is now more of a balance between fly bridge boats and non-fly bridge.

“With trends though, it depends on the person and what the shop has to offer.”

The warm weather will continue with clear skies and tops temperatures between 23C and 26C expected all week.
