DELISSA LOOKS TO DOLPHINS FOR BAT PRACTICE

- TOM BOSWELL tom.boswell@news.com.au

TIME in the middle has been scarce of late for Delissa Kimmince, who will look to cement her place in the upcoming T20 World Cup via the Gold Coast Dolphins.

The Australian representative has missed out on some crucial batting time in recent weeks with the national team after sitting at No.9 in the line-up.

But being on strict nobowling instructions for the Dolphin’s Round 3 firstgrade women’s game against Valleys at Bill Pippen Oval tomorrow, the 29-year-old is eager to build some form and confidence with bat in hand.

Selectors will announce the squad for two upcoming tours: one to Malaysia to play Pakistan, and the other to the West Indies for the World Cup in November.

“I wouldn’t mind just before we go away to get out there and face some balls in the middle in a game scenario rather than only having a bat in the nets,” Kimmince said.

“You start doubting yourself when you haven’t had a hit in a while.

“I want to go out there and face some balls and get my feet moving again rather than just hitting balls in the nets, where there are no consequences.”

Tomorrow, Gold Coast are poised to field their strongest side yet this season, with Brisbane Heat representative Sammy-Jo Johnson and Hobart Hurricanes player Georgia Redmayne joining Kimmince.

“Having DK (Kimmince) back for us is really exciting and the experienced girls will be surrounded by some of our younger girls who are coming through,” Dolphins coach Garry Lovett said.

“A lot of our younger girls are bowling and batting really well at the moment.”
