Sanc­tu­ary Cove house crowned as state’s best

A $7 MIL­LION man­sion at Sanc­tu­ary Cove has been crowned as the best house in Queens­land.

Gold Coast con­struc­tion com­pany DTL Con­struc­tions won big at the Mas­ter Builders state awards overnight, tak­ing out the ma­jor prize for House of the Year, as well as In­di­vid­ual Home over $2 mil­lion and Best Res­i­den­tial Bath­room.

The prop­erty, Villa Floren­tine, cost $7 mil­lion for land and build and has an es­ti­mated sale price of $10 mil­lion.

Built for in­ter­na­tional clients with prop­erty in Europe and the Pa­cific, the lux­u­ri­ous 1540sq m home of­fers a so­phis­ti­cated Euro­pean de­sign that in­cludes light-filled spaces of mar­ble, stone and glass.

Gen­er­ous, arched win­dows cap­ture the wa­ter fea­tures and pool area, sur­rounded by gar­dens and land­scap­ing. DTL Con­struc­tions own­ers, brothers Dar­ren and Lloyd Teas­dale, said they had never been in­volved with awards un­til their clients en­cour­aged them to do so with this pro­ject.

“Ev­ery pro­ject we work on we treat as if it was our own,” Dar­ren Teas­dale said.

“I’ve never got­ten in­volved with awards but the client was just so over the moon with how it came out, they en­cour­aged us to go for it.”

Gold Coast com­pa­nies and projects won 10 of the 61 awards on the night.

Other win­ners in­cluded Ed­u­ca­tion Fa­cil­i­ties over $10 mil­lion, won by ADCO Con­struc­tions for South­ern Cross Uni; Sport­ing Fa­cil­i­ties, won by Hansen Yuncken for Car­rara Sports Precinct Projects; Res­i­den­tial Build­ing up to $20 mil­lion, won by Stokes Wheeler for Main Beach Apart­ments; and In­dus­trial Build­ing up to $5 mil­lion, won by Clarke’s Pro­ject Man­age­ment for Te­kno Auto Rac­ing.
