I can’t believe that so many people think of the Olympic Games in a negative manner. Apart from security everything else involved can be used after the Games are over. Security and organisational costs are covered with increased tourism spending from local and overseas guests. Without the Games vital infrastructure for the GC like a second M1 to Brisbane and heavy rail to the airport will be pushed back another 20 years or more. Dominic

The difference between migrants heading north to California in caravans today and those headed west 170 years ago belonging to Mexico in wagon trains are fairly similar. One was for gold and today it’s for a golden opportunity to live a safe and meaningful life. Today’s is for a noble cause, back then it was for greed. America calls itself the most noble country on Earth for the past 75 years. Let’s see what they can do for their Latino neighbours like they did for Europe in the past this coming century – or will racism get in the way?

I didn’t know cyclists were so insightful, apparently they can identify things and yell them to other cyclist who clearly can’t identify those things. Like car, door, leaf on road, bus and stone. It’s great to teach others with less knowledge. But why they teach at 5am in the morning I don’t know.

My neighbour has had his caravan parked down the road away from his house for six months. He decided to sell it and put ‘for sale’ on it. Within two days he got a call from the council telling him council bylaws forbid selling private property on council land. So he told council he would take the sign off and is selling it online. Lucky no bylaw for parking my caravan there as long as I like he said.

President Trump should tell the Mexican president that if he does not stop ‘the caravan’ before they reach the US border that he will declare war on Mexico and as such any person invading the United States will be shot as an enemy of the state. Darryle Knowles, Main Beach
