HUNTER’S READY TO DANCE

- TALISA ELEY

HUNTER Leitch’s happy feet have helped him dance out of the traditional classroom and into a life of performance and television that he hopes will take him all the way to Broadway.

While Queensland kids went back to the classroom this week, the talented 14year-old Gold Coaster is dividing his time between study, dance, cabaret and touring after launching his television career during the holidays.

Hunter, from Upper Coomera, was chosen after a tough national audition process to be one of the stars of Nickelodeon’s Ready Set Dance on Nick Jr.

The cast perform dance routines to get pre-schoolaged children moving.

Hunter said it was “very exciting” to be on set and to see how everything worked behind the scenes.

“It was super cool having the exposure to TV and how the camera works,” he said.

The young star already has nine years of dance under his belt.

He has joined the Dynamite Studios Australia performing arts academy for young dancers this year.

“We study from 9am to 12pm, then I dance from 12.30pm to 8.30pm, half a day on Saturday and then on Sunday I rest,” he said.

Hunter has his eye on a career on Broadway or as a cruise ship performer and wants to work as a physiotherapist after his dance career.
