Wins make life easier

WINNING races makes placing horses easy for trainer Kelly Schweida and Jet Train’s rising quality as a stayer is making things even simpler.

Jet Train will race for a third straight win when the four-year-old mare lines up in the Class 3 Plate (1800m) at the Gold Coast today.

She went back-to-back at Ipswich over 1710m and 1680m and returns to the track that delivered her first win in September last year.

“She is going really good,” Schweida said.

“Her last two wins have been really good and she is stepping up in grade and distance now.

“I don’t think the 1800m will worry her. I think she will get to 2000m or 2200m.

“She has a reasonably draw (barrier six) and has won here before.

“Les Tilley is back on her and he won on her in the last two starts and is going good so we have kept him in the saddle.”

Schweida has had 34 winners already this season, including six at the Gold Coast track.

The Brisbane-based trainer said the continued improvement of Jet Train over a longer distance would provide him with ample opportunity to win more races with the mare.

“If they keep winning they are easy to place,” Schweida said.

“She is a staying filly and there are some nice types of races for horses like that.

“We don’t have the best stayers in Queensland so if they can get over ground then they can be easy to place.”

Schweida also has Jule’s Spirit, Park Chinois, Real Deal McNeill and Chicka Boom accepted to race at the Gold Coast today.
