FIVE TO WATCH AT TODAY’S SURFERS PARADISE ROUND OF THE NUTRI-GRAIN SERIES
COURTNEY HANCOCK
Surfers Paradise holds a special place in her heart.
She won here in the same round last year and also had her first ever professional ironwoman series race win at Surfers. Can she keep the lucky streak going?
CORY FLETCHER
Fletcher is having a great season, proving he is a name of the future. Sitting second in the Ocean6 board series and 16th in the Nutri-Grain Ironman Series, this Currumbin surf club kid is one to watch on the beach.
HANNAH SCULLEY
After winning the last round all eyes are on Sculley. The Northcliffe ironwoman grew up surfing Lennox Point and is a true ocean-woman – no wonder she is leading the board series and won the board race at interstates.
ALI DAY
In career-best form and coming off the back of a win in Round 4, Day can win the overall ironman crown if he claims Round 5. If he wins he will have down the triple of the ironman series, Coolangatta Gold and world title all in the same season.
NORTHCLIFFE WOMEN’S TAPLIN TEAM
Their training squad is the hottest in the sport. With the likes of Maddy Dunn, Georgia Miller, Danielle McKenzie all in career-best form, they have won three of the four rounds so far. Look out for a win in Round 5.
