MEGA-MANSION ROSE UP FROM ‘BARE BONES’

-

IT is the kind of luxury mega mansion the Gold Coast is renowned for.

With a stone firepit, glass display wine cellar and freestanding bath overlooking the Broadwater among the list of lavish features on offer, it is not hard to see why.

The sprawling Sovereign Islands property sits on a 1007sq m block.

Owners Ben and Nicole Westaway bought it in 2007 but breathed new life into it with an extensive renovation three years ago.

“We rebuilt it,” Mr Westaway said. “I wanted to redesign the property to maximise the aspect.”

They enlisted friend and award-winning Gold Coast architect Bayden Goddard to redesign the house while interior designer Romaine Alwill styled it.

It took more than a year to complete after stripping the Brittanic Cres property back to its bare bones.

“The roof and one wall were basically the basis of what hung around,” Mr Westaway said. “We took a lot of time with the detail.

“The black and white themes and soft natural stone rather than the usual beige have really popped.”

He said there was a lot to love about the property, from the “enormous” master bedroom to the games room bar with feature brick wall.

The property has been on the market for more than two years but a renewed marketing push has seen the price drop by almost $2 million. It is now listed with an asking price of at least $5.98 million through Alex Phillis Luxury Real Estate.
