Guilty plea for attack

-

A HEALTH worker crept into a teenage girl’s bedroom, told her she had a “really cute bottom” and tried to indecently touch her twice, a court has been told.

Denise Maree Mitchell, 50, was then kicked out of the home, crashed her car and recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.18 per cent.

Mitchell pleaded guilty in the Southport Magistrates Court yesterday to two counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16.

Magistrate Pamela Dowse sentenced her to two years probation and a conviction was recorded.

The incident, in February last year, happened when Mitchell was visiting friends on the Coast. The court was told Mitchell was intoxicated and suffering a “depressive episode”. NOT all animals were seized during a raid at a north Brisbane rescue sanctuary earlier this week.

The RSPCA has confirmed that some dogs and a couple of horses were left at the property, which was run as Storybook Farm Sacred Animal Garden, a sanctuary for disabled animals.

The horses were under an Animal Welfare Direction while the remaining dogs were the owner’s personal dogs and in good condition.

On Wednesday, RSPCA inspectors raided Storybook Farm.

The charity had previously been based in Beaudesert before moving to Canungra on the Gold Coast for a number of years. It is understood the farm moved to the north Brisbane property in the past nine months.

During the raid RSPCA inspectors allegedly uncovered 37 dogs covered in faeces and urine, saying the conditions even brought tears to experienced handlers.

The RSPCA say that the farm’s owner, Lisa-Jayne Cameron, has been “unavailable” for interviews with inspectors.

The charity’s social media pages were deleted after news broke of the story, and Ms Cameron’s personal accounts have also been removed.

RSPCA spokeswoman Alex Hyndman Hill said no charges had been laid at this stage.

One dog, a dalmation called Barry, was put down after being found in horrific condition, while one horse was also euthanised. Anyone with information about the charity or the animals seized is urged to contact the RSPCA.
