Tegan on a golden run

- MARK OBERHARDT

JOCKEY Tegan Harrison can complete a big week if she continues her good run with trainer Chris Meagher on Divine Dice in the Listed Goldmarket at the Gold Coast today.

The Goldmarket (1200m) was washed out last Saturday and in an unusual situation, it was transferred to today’s Aquis Park meeting even though it is not a metropolitan standard program.

The Goldmarket, the only stakes race in Queensland on the day, will be run as the last race to allow jockeys to ride at Eagle Farm earlier. A whole new field with fresh barriers was drawn and Divine Dice got marble number 5 on Thursday.

Harrison has formed a strong association with the Brisbane-based Meagher and won on Divine Dice at his latest start over 1200m at Eagle Farm on February 2.

She was the jockey when Divine Dice finished fourth in the Magic Millions QTIS race at his previous start on the Gold Coast in January.

Harrison has been in good form with doubles at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday and Murwillumbah on Tuesday. She also won for Robert Heathcote on Loves A Lottery at Doomben on Wednesday.

“I have ridden plenty of winners for Rob but I got my first winner for Chris Anderson at Murwillumbah,” she said.

“Hopefully it is pointed to getting more rides when they start their training partnership soon.

“It has been a good week and I’d love to finish it off with a win for Chris who has stuck by me.”

Trainer Kevin Kemp has Mr Marbellouz in the Goldmarket and an Open Handicap at Eagle Farm but is set to head to the Gold Coast, where Dale Smith has been booked to ride him.
