Special day for a pair of mums

- TALISA ELEY

IT will be an extra special Mother’s Day for Southport mum Lucy Briggs, who welcomed her third child this week.

It is the first time in years Mrs Briggs has been able to celebrate the big day with her own mother Colleen, who travelled across the ditch to meet her newest grandson.

And it is the first time the pair will spend it together as mums.

“She lives in New Zealand so she’s flown in to help out for a couple of weeks, which is nice. I can’t remember the last time we were together for it,” Mrs Briggs said.

She and husband David welcomed baby Henry at 3pm on Tuesday, May 7, at Gold Coast University Hospital. Henry weighed 3.7kg.

“He’s just delicious, warm, fuzzy and gorgeous. We’re all a bit addicted to him,” Mrs Briggs said.

Henry’s older brothers Sebastian, 5, and William, 4, are excited to celebrate with their mum tomorrow.

“They get very excited about Mother’s Day. Sebastian has been busy buying things at the school stall and William has been making cards at daycare, so it’s quite a big deal for them,” the beaming mum said.

While the boys are determined to spoil their mum with homemade pancakes, Mrs Briggs said she was just happy to have the whole family together, including newest member Henry. “I like playing LEGO with her. For Mother’s Day I’m gunna bake cupcakes with her.” “I love making experiments with her. We do lots of cooking. Her favourite thing is looking at flowers, she loves roses.”

“I love kissing my mummy. We play shops together. Her favourite thing is me, my sisters and daddy.” “I like her because I love her. Mummy likes to eat guacamole. She makes it with carrots, tomato and green leaves. Her favourite thing is bringing me to school.”
