WHILE mothers on the Gold Coast are preparing for a day of relaxation tomorrow, the ladies at Friends With Dignity are getting started early.
The domestic violence charity today will host its fourth annual high tea in support of Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month.
Friends With Dignity CEO Zoe Scharenguivel said this time of year was particularly import- ant for the charity.
“A lot of us are mothers ourselves but we’re committed to helping other families. The vast majority of the victims we help are women with children,” she said.
This year’s event aims to raise $40,000 for the cause and the sister of murder victim Allison Baden-Clay, Vanessa Fowler, is the keynote speaker.
Ms Scharenguivel, a mum of three, said she was hoping to earn herself a few hours of fun once the event finished.
“I’m looking forward to breakfast in bed, which will probably be Vegemite toast if I’m lucky, and spending the day with my children and with my mum as well,” she said.
