EUROVISION STAR HEADS OUR WAY

Gold Coast-bound Kate Miller-Heidke reflects on her deep run at the Eurovision contest with Andrew Meadowcroft

-

ATG: Have a chance to get out on the Gold Coast when competing in Eurovision Australia Decides?

MILLER-HEIDKE: Not much, the schedule was intense. Though not quite as intense as Eurovision finals. I tend to be a bit of a hermit before performing. I need to stay out of noisy places and avoid talking much. It’s all a tad dull until I get on stage.

ATG: Since on the Gold Coast performing in the Australian National Final and winning, how has your direction in life changed with being propelled back into the international spotlight?

M-H: The Eurovision experience was a roller coaster, unforgettable experience. I feel like I have new fans, as well as older ones who have reconnected with my music. I feel lucky to have had such a long career in music but I know from experience the spotlight doesn’t last. I try not to let it affect

me much, I just keep working. I’m in the studio recording for a new album.

ATG: What can fans expect on your Australian tour?

M-H: It’s going to be really special. There will be a mix of back catalogue stuff as well as some rarer stuff, requests and brand new songs. I’m touring with brilliant musicians who contribute so much to the sound.

ATG: Will you have time to take in the Gold Coast when here in October for your HOTA show?

M-H: Possibly. I’d love to take son Ernie, 3, to Dreamworld or Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary at some stage.
