LANGBROEK ON TRACK
MP for Surfers Paradise John-Paul Langbroek still got an invite to the GC600 launch despite his major spray for Supercars recently
SUPERCARS and the MP for Surfers Paradise John-Paul Langbroek insist there is no bad blood despite his rev up for the GC600 recently.
Langbroek still made the cut for Supercars launch party at Nineteen on Wednesday night for its Gold Coast pitstop in October despite his GC600 spray.
The outspoken LNP State MP had said interest in the GC600 as it was had “peaked”. He said more than just night racing was needed to reinvigorate it and drivers lacked charisma of the sport’s big names of yesteryear.
Intriguingly, Mayor Tom Tate acknowledged Langbroek’s presence in his speech remarks but the Supercars CEO Sean Seamer did not, only referencing Mayor Tate and Assistant Tourism Minister Meaghan Scanlon.
A Supercars spokesman insists it was no snub, telling ATG: “No, not at all – Sean was just acknowledging the other speakers.”
The spokesman acknowledged constructive criticism was welcomed: “We work with all levels of government and there are no issues there and everyone is entitled to their opinion and say.”
As for Langbroek, he was not at all put out by not being acknowledged, telling ATG: “That doesn’t bother me. They tried to address it by saying ‘We are always enhancing and improving the event’.”
Other Gold Coast names to attend included Charli Robinson, acting as MC, who has been a busy mum since the birth of her daughter Kensington.
ATG had a chat with her partner, racing car driver Liam Talbot. “I am so happy being a father,” he said. “I am just in awe looking at our beautiful daughter.
“Every time Kensington looks at me, smiles and giggles, it just melts my heart. I am so blessed I now have two leading ladies in my life.”
