Media man joins Village board
THEME parks operator Village Roadshow Limited has appointed a prominent media identity to its board.
In an aftermarket announcement, the company said former News Corp Australia and Foxtel CEO Peter Tonagh would join it as an independent non-executive director, effective immediately.
“Mr Tonagh brings a wealth and diversity of experience to the VRL Board, with strong financial and media expertise from a 25-year executive career,” the company said in a statement to the ASX.
“Mr Tonagh has been appointed following a comprehensive search by leading executive search firm Egon Zehnder, and is a high-calibre addition to the VRL Board.
“Mr Tonagh has extensive executive leadership experience including as Chief Executive Officer of News Corp Australia and Foxtel, and interim Chief Executive Officer of REA Group.” In addition to his role as former head of News Corp, publisher of the Gold Coast Bulletin, Mr Tonagh is a former vice-president and partner of The Boston Consulting Group.
He is currently a member of the Council of the Australian Film Television and Radio School and chairman of Bus Stop Films, a not-for-profit organisation supporting inclusion in the screen industry.
Mr Tonagh also held nonexecutive director roles at REA Group and Ten Network Holdings and is a former chairman of Multi Channel Network.
He serve on the VRL Audit and Risk, Remuneration and the Corporate Governance and Nomination committees.
“VRL continues to progress its search for an independent, non-executive chair, announced in June 2019,” the company said.
Village Roadshow shares were trading at $2.75 at 3pm yesterday, up 5¢.
