Refurb adds to appeal

- JESSICA BROWN

IT is the kind of waterfront mansion that puts the glitz and glamour into the Glitter Strip.

With a seemingly endless list of lavish inclusions, the Sovereign Islands residence on Excalibur Crt promises a life of luxury.

It comes at a hefty price though – $4.5 million to be exact.

Chandeliers and LED mood lighting ensure it is always framed in the perfect light, while a marble bar and waterfront entertainment deck with pool are among the features that complement the extravagant lifestyle on offer.

Vendors Darrin Field and Elena Gold spent years transforming it into a dream home, which is a far cry from what it looked like when they bought it in 2011.

Mr Field said they bought it with a renovation in mind but lived in it for a little while first to determine what they did and didn’t want to change.

“We actually lived in the house for two years before we finalised our ideas and plans,” he said.

“We wanted to make sure we were taking the most advantage of those views.

“We basically gutted (the house) and left the outside walls. It took us two years.”

He said the most important aspect of the design was guaranteeing there was a seamless flow between the indoor and outdoor living.

The kitchen and living area that opens on to the entertainment deck with a pool, outdoor kitchen and sauna quickly became their favourite part of the home.

“All our living is done in the outdoor area,” Mr Field said.
