No bail for alleged violent threat

REALITY TV star and former Penthouse Pet Suzi Taylor has spent the night in prison after she allegedly extorted and bashed a younger man who came to her inner-Brisbane unit for a Tinder date.

A court heard the former The Block star shouted “Give me my money, give me my money” as another man – her alleged accomplice – entered the room and kicked and punched her Tinder date in the face.

Taylor also assaulted the man, the court heard, and the pair allegedly also held the man against his will.

Taylor was refused bail after it was revealed in court she was already facing charges for her alleged involvement in a burglary last month.

She will remain behind bars until at least next month.

The 49-year-old, who appeared on the 2015 season of The Block, fronted court yesterday charged with extortion, deprivation of liberty, assault occasioning bodily harm, possession of a dangerous drug and breaching a bail condition.

She spent the hearing in prison greens, turned side-on in the dock to shield her face.

Her co-accused, Ali Ebrahimi, was charged with the same offences after the pair allegedly attacked the 33-yearold man at Taylor’s New Farm apartment on Wednesday, forcing him to make an online transaction before taking his bank card and withdrawing money.

Neighbours from Taylor’s riverfront unit, where she has been staying for the past few months, said it had been used for many parties.

One neighbour said she heard loud screams while she was out walking on Thursday morning.

“Just before 6am, I heard this loud sort of scream,” she said. “I didn’t know where it was coming from.”

Other neighbours reported as many as 12 police officers were at Taylor’s apartment yesterday.

Taylor was yesterday refused bail by magistrate John McGrath after the court heard the mother-of-three was already on bail for the unrelated burglary offences.

Mr McGrath remanded Taylor in custody after finding she was a “simply unacceptable” risk of reoffending.

Taylor was expected to appear for the first time in court on her previous charges – including burglary, receiving stolen property and unlawful use of a motor vehicle – next month before being arrested for the alleged dating app extortion.

Taylor is also facing separate driving charges that occurred in Brisbane on October 20, the court heard.

Ebrahimi did not apply for bail and was also remanded in custody.

Both defendants will reappear in court next month.

It is understood Taylor will be housed in Brisbane Women’s jail at Wacol with 240 other inmates.

If she has problems adapting to the jail, she could be placed in observation in unit S4.
