Take your sports car home to luxury unit

- ANDREW POTTS

SO you want to live in the sky? Well, you and your sports car will be able to take a lift soon to your apartment overlooking one of the Gold Coast’s most famous beaches.

A luxury tower with some incredible hi-tech features has been unveiled for a site at Main Beach. The 23-storey tower, to be known as The Monaco, is planned for Macarthur Pde and will feature 11 three-bedroom apartments with a mix of single-level fullfloor villas and double-storey sky-villas.

Coast-based developer Ignite Projects, it features the southern hemisphere’s first car lift and “sky garages”. Ignite Projects managing director Josh Foote says the car lift will be the first of its kind in the southern hemisphere.

Mr Foote said it would allow residents to access a car park within their apartment.

“The car lift provides a non-conventional approach to carparking, allowing residents to drive their car into the lift located at groundlevel before being elevated to their apartment where they can drive into their sky garage – a car showroom located within the apartment dwelling surrounded by floorto-ceiling windows framing views of the coastline extending to Surfers Paradise,” he said. “In addition, the private outdoor bathing area complete with a deep bathtub and shower creates an air of indulgence with lush tropical foliage providing shade and privacy while framing ocean views.”

A development application was filed with the council this week. The building was designed by Rothelowman Architects. Rothelowman Brisbane boss Jeff Brown said the project was aimed at the Gold Coast’s growing downsizer market.

“The Monaco has been designed with clarity and simplicity in mind allowing for the natural attributes of the prime coastal location to take precedence,” he said.

“Surrounded by green space and located just 100 metres from the beach, the modest scale of the project adds to the potency of the offering where owners can enjoy the very best of beachside living while enjoying the convenience and craftsmanship of carefully considered planning to bring some key features to life.”
