Unbeaten Dolphins get skipper back

- BRENT O’NEILL

UNBEATEN Katherine Raymont Shield leaders Gold Coast will welcome back captain Belinda McDougall for their toughest one-day assignment to date when they travel to Sandgate-Redcliffe tomorrow.

After skippering the Dolphins to back-to-back wins in their first two 50-over outings, McDougall missed last week’s eight-wicket victory over Valleys at Bill Pippen Oval.

All-rounders Tara Wheeler, 21, and Carly Fuller, 20, shared the captaincy duties in her absence and stood tall to guide the home side to a bonus-point win.

McDougall will take the place of youngster Hayley Campbell in the only change to the Dolphins’ first-grade squad.

Sandgate-Redcliffe sit third after slipping to a surprise loss against Ipswich-Logan last weekend and, like the Dolphins, will be missing their

Women’s Big Bash League stars in the 10am clash at Deagon’s Trevor Hohns Oval.

Gold Coast duo Delissa Kimmince and Sammy-Jo Johnson have again been included in a 13-player Brisbane Heat squad for WBBL fixtures this weekend.

Sitting top of the table with five wins from eight games, defending champions Brisbane will play at Drummoyne Oval against the Sydney Thunder at 6.10pm today before facing Perth at 9am tomorrow.

Only one win separates the top six heading into this weekend’s fixtures, which will be broadcast on Kayo.

Sandgate spinner Lily Mills is joined in the Heat squad by clubmates Beth Mooney and Georgia Prestwidge.
