DAVE Gilmour’s complaining about the unwanted in Southport. Get the cops to load them all on a bus and drop them off in Surfers Paradise. That should get some action. Barney

Denny Pearce. Your comment re Fifita ... Pfft who cares. But your comment re Bali. You obviously aren’t very well travelled. You’re the only dumb one with a comment like that. Sharon

I am a war baby from Lpool UK. I grew up in pollution you couldn’t believe. But we cleaned it all up. Now here in Australia I can’t believe how the modern generations think. You have more natural gas, coal, uranium and every other element in abundance. But you are not using it for the benefit of Australians. You give it away to India, China etc. Use it to create power for Australia. It’s clean and green now, not like we had, use the technology, or the lights will go out. Glyn

Billy Cross, what planet have you been living on the last 15 years if you think Schoolies is safe, balcony jumping and deaths? Let them celebrate what, going to school? The poor little souls, such a tough life so far. Get them ready for the real world by trashing themselves mindless for a week. I smell money in it for you.

Good ol R Nightingale spreading false ‘facts’. All who watch inquiry know aged care is fed responsibility and no LNP turned up to Earl Haven for two days.

Media reporting that the number of asylum seekers arriving on planes and applying for permanent residency is at crisis point. The worst ones milking the system are foreign uni students, whose desire to receive an education from Australian universities also includes permanent residency. After achieving that they then apply to have their families brought out here and given the same privileges. This loophole is just as sneaky as arriving by leaky boats, yet Labor and the Greens are encouraging it. KenW

Re: ESTIA aged care Southport. I endorse the comments in GCB 13/11. This facility and particularly the staff do not warrant inclusion in the negative comments coming out in the current aged care enquiry. My wife was a resident for four years. The facility was always very clean and well maintained. The food was always good quality, varied and plentiful. Special functions were always oganised for occasions such as Xmas, Easter, birthdays etc. Despite lifestyle programs to keep residents active and entertained staff cannot

and should not be required to compensate for the loneliness experienced by all too many residents as a result of the neglect by their own family members. All too often those who are quick to criticise the treatment their “loved one” has received in an aged care home would do well to reflect on their own shortcomings in their lack of involvement and rapid decline in the frequency of their visits after they have placed this “loved one” into aged care. What on Earth is our Mayor doing? One can see the sand around his ears every time he pulls said head out. It is time he worked with his councillors, stopped gagging them from speaking out and stopped trying to run the show on his own. He is not a Donald Trump. The councillors represent us, the people of the Gold Coast and they speak for us and on the whole they do a mighty job. Mr Mayor let them do the job they were voted in for. You must stop letting your ego get in the way of what could be an excellent council. Jillian

With all the bushfires burning and some seeming to be of suspicious origin, does anyone remember the guests on the ABC’s QandA on Monday (4/11) calling for arson to be committed as an act of rebellion? How can we know if the ABC incited their insane audience to act out? Shut it down; the ABC does more harm than good. Shano

What a petty society we live in when people have to grumble and whinge about people putting their dogs droppings in other people’s bins ... I for one do not think my rubbish is better than anyone else’s and would much rather dog owners put their rubbish in my bin than leave on the street. Not a Rubbish Snob, Mermaid Waters

Sally Spain sure is a pain who preaches her greenie rubbish just like DJ Fraser preaches his love for Labor. These attention seekers are obsessed with bringing attention to themselves and gaining notoriety. Linda, a teacher

A decade ago ‘Zen’ the Chinese restaurant at the casino, was open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. Why then now having been renamed ‘Imperial’ is it only open for lunch 3 days a week, Fri, Sat & Sun and dinner 5 nights a week? Is this the same entertainment group that wants exclusivity in this city? A bit of competition needed I think

Haven’t got time to chat in chatroom! Too busy on wheelie bin watch! Watching out for those pesky doggie doo doo dumpers! Pathetic isn’t it? Tugun Local

Memo Tom tate. I want to hear my local councillor’’s opinion on citywide matters. Stop being so pompous. JF
