Oh Five Glory working well

- MARK OBERHARDT

EAGLE FARM

OH Five Glory was the bestperformed Queenslander in the last Magic Millions 2YO Classic and her trainers believe she is on the road to repeating the performance in the 3YO Guineas next month.

The filly takes on another stakes race, the Gold Edition Plate (1200m) at Eagle Farm today in her lead-up to the $2 million Guineas (1400m) at the Gold Coast on January 11.

Taking on top class is nothing new for Oh Five Glory who will be having her seventh run in stakes company today.

The filly finished fifth behind Exhilarates in the 2YO Classic this year and was far from disgraced in Group 1 and 2 company in the winter. Oh Five Glory has had three runs since a break and improved with each run.

At her most recent start she finished second to Sugar Boom in the Listed Mode Plate (1200m) at Doomben two weeks ago. Will Hulbert, who trains with his father Peter, said the aim was obviously to have Oh Five Glory at her top on Magic Millions day.

“She has been strong at the finish and she is getting ready to get out to the 1400 metres of the Guineas, ” the Eagle Farm trainer said.

“Larry (Cassidy) has been impressed with her work and is sticking with her.”

The filly has been given no help with the barrier draw, getting nine in a field of 10.

Oh Five Glory is raced by a syndicate made up of Wests Tigers rugby league fans who named the filly after the team’s 2005 grand final win.

She races in the black and orange colours of the NRL club.
