MOST POPULAR PROPERTIES OF 2019

- MIKAELA DAY mikaela.day@news.com.au

GLITTER Strip house hunters are in luck – the city’s most popular house for 2019 is still up for grabs.

If the words “flawless, fully automated, luxury Hamptons home” have you hooked, you’re not alone.

The renovated Palm Beach property emerged as the Gold Coast’s hottest house, raking in the most views on realestate.com.au for the year.

The six-bedroom house at 144 Tallebudgera Dve underwent an extensive renovation to transform into a luxurious Hamptons-style smart home with state-of-the-art technology.

It failed to sell under the hammer in October and is now listed at $3.199 million for “a quick sale’’.

Kollosche agent Rob Lamb, who is marketing the property alongside agency head Michael Kollosche, said it had the right ingredients.

“It has the Hamptons look, is basically brand new with a renovation to the highest standard, was styled and furnished perfectly and is in an idyllic location on the Tallebudgera Creek,” Mr Lamb said. “It’s definitely aspirational. We had not only people looking to buy but people doing renovations and wanting ideas.”

The renovation was at the hands of construction king Theodore Vairaktaris, who turned his one-man painting business Usher Group into an $83 million company.

The property’s transformation coincided with the launch of boutique developer Taris Property Group, which will build and renovate highend homes.

“Our renovation was never going to be just another Gold Coast property,” Mr Vairaktaris said when it hit the market. “It was always going to be a statement.’’

2. 13 Anita Ave, Miami

THE renovated Hamptonsstyle home topped the mostviewed list the week of its auction.

It was more than an online phenomenon, with close to 200 people turning out to watch the auction action.

The four-bedroom property sold for $1.075 million not long after it passed in for $1.06 million.

The property’s popularity was put down to an impressive makeover and on-trend style.

3. 65 Lanes Rd, Wongawallan

THE quintessential Queenslander had a brief stint on the market in January when plenty of house hunters eyed off the realestate.com.au listing.

The 2.72ha property hit the market again this week in a renewed push to sell the home. It last sold for $2.3 million in 2009.

4. Temple Penthouse, Gold Coast Hwy, Palm Beach

THE three-level penthouse atop the beachfront Temple complex comes with a long list of luxury inclusions.

From a rooftop terrace with an outdoor kitchen, heated pool and spa, to an oceanfront terrace – the skyhome has plenty of luxury additions.

The six-level home is for sale with a $7.95 million price guide. Two other apartments in the complex have sold this year – No.4 and No.5 fetched $3.25 million and $3.2 million respectively.

5. 255 Monaco St, Broadbeach Waters

THE luxury house on an illustrious Gold Coast street set a record among its neighbours when it sold for $11 million three years ago.

The mega-mansion is owned by businessman David Fitch and wife Rachel, who put the property on the market in September.

The five-bedroom house, which occupies four waterfront blocks, was first listed with a $13.75 million price tag. It is still up for grabs with an asking price of $12.95 million.

6. 36 Lakeview Blvd, Mermaid Waters

THE recently completed waterfront house offers plenty of glitz and glam.

It’s a grand and contemporary entertainer which features five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a pool, gas fireplace, home theatre and wine room.

It hit the market in November and has an active listing with a $2.95 million price guide, according to CoreLogic records.

7. 7/3533 Main Beach Pde, Main Beach

THE $8.25 million deal for the penthouse was the Coast’s highest residential sale for most of the year.

It’s the city’s third-highest apartment sale and highest beachfront apartment sale.

The four-bedroom, fourbathroom skyhome features marble, limestone, travertine, timber and stone throughout, while floor-to-ceiling windows frame ocean views.

8. 11 Denning Rd, Currumbin Valley

THE rainforest retreat sold for $2.4 million in May to a local family seeking a tree change.

It was aptly named the Palasari Rainforest Estate and had a lush mountain backdrop and tropical rainforest surrounds. Two residences were on the sprawling 10.52ha property.

The main house was perched at the highest point and featured four bedrooms, a resort-style pool and an Asian-influenced design.

9. 16 Brighton Pde, Southport

THE custom-built Cape Cod house has been no stranger to the spotlight.

It was a fan favourite on Pinterest, a winner of Australia’s best room in Home Beautiful magazine and frequently one of Queensland’s most viewed properties on realestate.com.au throughout its sales campaign.

The six-bedroom Hamptons-style property sold for $3.5 million in April to a family from the US.

10. 19 Boolama Place, Mudgeeraba

THE owners of the luxurious estate set out to notch a suburb record when they listed the property for $4.25 million in March.

The $3.6 million sale price in July fell short of a benchmark but meant the vendors pocketed $1.15 million after less than three years of ownership.

An eight-seat cinema, mosaic-tiled heated pool, a gym, sauna and grand-covered outdoor entertainment area were among the house’s highlights.
