THE QUADDIE

RACE 6

— 3YO MAIDEN (1200m)

Lady Melba will be improved with two race starts under her belt and trainer Tony Gollan has decided to put the blinkers on the filly today. Lady Melba has drawn in close and will be given every chance by Alannah Fancourt. Replication was beaten less than a length at her second start when third in a Sunshine Coast Maiden last month and should take plenty of improvement out of the run. Lady

Belzone was placed twice at Doomben and the Gold Coast and has had two trials to ready her for her return. Expect improvement from My

Adeline at her second start.

SELECTIONS:

12 Lady Melba, 2 Replication, 5 Lady Belzone, 10 My Adeline

RACE 7

— CLASS 1 HCP (1100m)

Single Again broke through for her Maiden win three starts back over the same course and distance as today’s contest and wasn’t disgraced last time out when fourth in a 1200m Gold Coast Fillies and Mares Class 1 Plate. Single Again has to overcome an awkward gate but a repeat of her latest effort will see her running on.

Krakatoa Eruption blitzed her rivals with an all-the-way Maiden win at Gatton on January 3. Galianno Hot

Shot won a recent Doomben trial and gets in nicely with apprentice Leah Kilner’s 2kg claim. Brocky won a Doomben trial in preparation for this.

SELECTIONS:

9 Single Again, 8 Krakatoa Eruption, 5 Galianno Hot Shot, 3 Brocky

RACE 8

— CLASS 1 HCP (1400m)

Gandiva was beaten less than half a length last start in a 1200m Gold Coast Class 1 Plate and gets her chance to go one better today. Powerful Lass was beaten a nose when a first-up second over the Gold Coast 1400m course and has also won over this course and distance and Dan Griffin takes the ride again. Luvdisc is fitter for two runs back from a spell and is heading back to the Gold Coast following her latest seventh in a 1350m Doomben Class 1 so look for improvement. Think I’m Flying is better suited back at the Gold Coast in a Class 1.

SELECTIONS:

4 Gandiva, 5 Powerful Lass, 2 Luvdisc, 3 Think I’m Flying

RACE 9

— CLASS 1 HCP (1400m)

A change of tactics last start saw

San Pierre set the pace before getting run down when runner up in a 1200m Gold Coast Class 1 Plate and a repeat performance gives him a great chance to find the winner’s stall today.

King’s Rule races well on his home track with a win and a placing at the Gold Coast from three starts and has claims on his latest third here in a Class 1 Plate. Prospectus looked good in scoring a three-and-a-quarter lengths win in a 1400m Gold Coast Maiden and should handle the step up in class.

Amazingly has the blinkers on for the first time.

SELECTIONS:

8 San Pierre, 7 King’s Rule, 5 Prospectus, 9 Amazingly
