Community team put together to provide guidance

- KIRSTIN PAYNE kirstin.payne@news.com.au

NEW group of local leaders has been formed in an effort to steer the Gold Coast during the coronavirus pandemic.

Led by Member for Moncrieff Angie Bell, the special ‘community cabinet’ which incorporates a number of Gold Coast leaders will act as the front line of communication between the city and the Federal Government.

“This is about getting Gold Coasters working together to understand the new way of life and working together on this new path we are facing,” Ms Bell said.

“In support of our senior federal ministers I have launched a special community

cabinet as a local initiative to make sure people in our community sectors have direct access and advice from the Federal Government.”

The group includes state MPs, representatives from across community sectors, Rotary, council and business.

“The purpose of the group is to share the right information, decision and processes – essentially we are shortening the supply chain of information so it comes direct,” Ms Bell said.

The group will meet via tele-link on an as-need basis as the pandemic peaks.

“This is about getting information to as many people in the community as possible in the shortest timeframe possible.
