Dzsenifer dents her rivals’ JJ Atkins bid

GOLD COAST

PROMISING filly Dzsenifer effectively ended the JJ Atkins hopes of her rivals when she won at the Gold Coast yesterday.

Several trainers used the higher metropolitan prizemoney on offer in the twoyear-old race yesterday as a last-chance bid by their runners to make the field for the Group 1 JJ Atkins at Eagle Farm next Saturday.

Dzsenifer was not nominated for the feature race.

Winning jockey Sean Cormack took advantage of a slow early pace to have filly behind the leader.

He was to able to sprint her clear in the straight and

Dzsenifer ($4) had too big a break in beating See Marie ($5.50) by 1¼ lengths with a short head to Corvo ($4).

Sunshine Coast trainer Jack Duncan said Dzsenifer had been showing plenty of promise and would be a smart three-year-old.

Dzsenifer is one of the few horses by former Group 1placed sire Scissor Kick to race in Queensland and now looks a bargain as $32,000 yearling at the 2019 Magic Millions Sales.

She has won $48,900 from two starts that have netted the win and a second at the Sunshine Coast on May 15.

See Marie, Corvo, fourthplaced Uncomplicated and fifth-placed Neutron needed to win yesterday to make the

Atkins field. They will now need a big drop off of higherplaced horses on the ballot to make the field when final acceptances are taken on Tuesday.

Racing Queensland introduced Friday metropolitan level meetings at the Coast during the coronavirus crisis but the club reverts to provincial level next Saturday.
