Jenner top of rich list

-

KYLIE Jenner and Kanye West have topped the Forbes list of the highest- paid celebrities but sports stars including Roger Federer dominate the top 10.

Forbes estimated that Jenner earned $US590 million ($A849 million) in the past 12 months, mostly from the sale of a 51 per cent stake in her Kylie Cosmetics line in 2019.

West followed with an estimated $US170 million in earnings, after his deal with Adidas for his Yeezy sneaker brand.

Federer was third with an estimated $US106.3 million.

CELEBRITIES, musicians and political leaders have gathered in front of George Floyd’s golden casket for a fiery memorial service for the man whose death at the hands of police sparked global protests.

The service – the first in a series set for three cities over six days – unfolded in Minneapolis as a judge a few blocks away set bail at $750,000 each for the three fired police officers charged with aiding and abetting murder in Mr Floyd’s death.

“George Floyd’s story has been the story of black folks. Because ever since 401 years ago, the reason we could never be who we wanted and dreamt to be is you kept your knee on our neck,” the Reverend Al Sharpton said in a fierce eulogy. “It’s time for us to stand up in George’s name and say: ‘Get your knee off our necks!’ ”

Mr Floyd, a 46-year-old out-of-work bouncer, died on May 25 after a white police officer, Derek Chauvin, put his knee on Mr Floyd’s neck for several minutes as he lay handcuffed on the pavement, gasping that he couldn’t breathe.

Chauvin has been charged with murder, and he and the others could get up to 40 years in prison.

From coast to coast, and from Paris and London to

Sydney and Rio de Janeiro, the chilling cellphone video of Mr Floyd’s slow death has set off turbulent and sometimes violent demonstrations against police brutality, racism and inequality.

Those gathered at the Minneapolis tribute stood in silence for eight minutes and 46 seconds, the amount of time Mr Floyd was alleged to be on the ground under the control of police.

Mr Floyd’s brother, Philonise Floyd, recounted their childhoods and said: “All these people came to see my brother.”

The casket was covered in roses, and an image was projected of a mural of Mr Floyd painted at the corner where he was arrested.
