WHEN FARNHAM’S MOMENT TO SHINE AMONG A-LISTERS

BBQ MASTER AND NO MORE

-

THESE two photos were taken at Dreamworld in 1992 during rehearsals for the Australian Music Awards. American superstar Will Smith is chatting with our own John Farnham (right) while the other has a youthful Jon Bon Jovi with Andrew Daddo (below) discussing the format for that night’s show. Kim Wilde and Kate Ceberano were also part of the star studded line-up. In front of 5000 screaming fans, Farnham won the Crystal Trophy Award for Most Outstanding Contribution to the music and entertainment industry. After the awards Bon Jovi did an unplanned acoustic concert in the ballroom at Marriott Resort for a select crowd of VIPs and in-house guests.

THIS week’s Life in Lockdown stars Channel 9’s Eva Milic talking about being at home with her husband Marcus Dore.

1. Is Marcus a good cook and if so what is his best dish? “He is a fabulous cook as long as he’s in front of the barbecue with a beer in his hand! That is the extent of his culinary repertoire.”

2. What does Marcus do well around the house?

“He’s good at suggesting things, in fact, if he ever changed careers he could definitely be a food critic.”

3. What is the worst trait for both of you in the house? “Did you see that meme about the husband blinking too loudly during lockdown? That’s how I’m sure we both felt about each other toward the end of our stint in isolation.”

4. Have you started binge watching any particular shows?

“After juggling home schooling and work, the evenings were all about binge watching. Loved Michael Jordan and The Last Dance and had to check out Tiger King to see what all the fuss was about.”

5. What surprising things have you learned about each other during the lockdown?

“Not much – Marcus knew I’d be in my element spending all that time at home (bit of a hermit really) and I knew he’d be itching to get out there, socialising once again. But in all seriousness we did really enjoy our time together as a family. I think I might stick with them!!”

THIS year was meant to be the year of dreams for dancer/ choreographer Ant Ikin but instead it has now become the year of living dangerously. Ant and his husband Pete Cunningham (pictured) have spent the past week at home in Los Angeles surrounded by the riots that have erupted in the City of Angels. “Watching it outside our window is heart breaking. I get why it’s happening, I understand their anger and most of us can feel their pain,” he wrote. “There is SUCH an unacceptable divide in this country, one I never felt connected to until moving here and seeing and hearing it first-hand. I really hope that some good comes from all of this.” Ant and Pete moved to LA last year for work but COVID-19 has put a major brake on their plans. “I was flying between Australia and Japan before I landed my first big choreography gig in America. Pete was a producer on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and was moving on to America’s Got Talent and then that got shut down in one day so it has been tough. It has been a bizarre few months and we’ve never missed Queensland more but we’re not quitters so we will be staying and hoping for change.”

LAST Sunday was a significant milestone in the life of Sunland’s Dr Soheil Abedian. This time last year Soheil (pictured) was on an operating table undergoing a double bypass as doctors fought to save his life after he had suffered three strokes. We spotted him and wife Anne out and about and remarked how well he looked compared with six months ago. “I feel wonderful. My heart surgeon, Dr Ben Anderson, and neurologist, Dr Armad Sabet, were amazing with what they were able to accomplish, as were the nursing staff who helped to get me back on my feet. I feel so blessed to have this ‘second’ chance and enjoy life with Anne and my family.”

HER absent-mindedness has been a source of much amusement for many a year but now our own Vera Vague has taken her forgetfulness to a new level. Out with the girls for the first time since the restrictions were eased when one of them noticed that she had a Quasimodo hump on one shoulder. Further inspection revealed she had a largish feminine hygiene product underneath her blouse above her right shoulder blade. Huh? After much laughter and a little embarrassment, Vera explained what had happened. It seems she had misplaced a shoulder pad, couldn’t find a replacement and so had found the next best thing. The only problem was that the pin had worked free and the replacement had taken off on its own journey of discovery.
