Wallace remains wanted

TITANS coach Justin Holbrook insists Jarrod Wallace is part of the club’s plans following revelations the former Maroons forward is in the sights of St George Illawarra.

The Dragons have discussed the possibility of signing Wallace to replace Englandbound prop James Graham – a move that would free up significant salary cap space for the Titans to sign Broncos star David Fifita.

Wallace, 28, has two-and-ahalf years remaining on a $2.4 million contract but has fallen down the pecking order under Holbrook.

After missing the Titans’ past three games, partly due to a back injury, Wallace will return from the bench in Saturday night’s Suncorp Stadium derby against the Broncos.

At his best, Wallace is an important player for the Titans, as evidenced by the 65 games he has played for the club since joining the Gold Coast from Brisbane in 2017.

Holbrook said he was blindsided by reports Wallace (pictured) had been linked to the Dragons and the six-game State of Origin forward remained part of his plans.

“Yeah, he’s playing this week,” Holbrook said.

“I left him out a couple of weeks ago but he’s been battling a back issue, which he’s over now. I expect him to be raring to go tomorrow.

“There is always going to be interest, especially with James Graham going home.”

While Wallace may remain at the Titans, ex-Kangaroos prop Shannon Boyd, 27, is negotiating with the Titans to walk away from the NRL.

He is in the second year of a four-season, $2.4 million deal, but is disillusioned after playing only 14 games for the club.
