Weekend Gold Coast Bulletin

rules from June 30/July 1 were first announced for Qld, I heard anyone sneaking into Qld from Vic and falsifying their paperwork, would face a $10,000 fine, but by the next news bulletin that figure had dropped to $4000. Why do our governments constantly come up with fines for everything with figures in the multiples of thousands and/or accompanied by “prison terms”, when we know that neither of these things are ever going to happen.

We’ve since learned that anyone coming from Victoria into Qld will now face a 14-day compulsory quarantining period “at their own expense”, which I heard on a news bulletin is $200 per night per person, a total of $2800 for the full term of the quarantine period and that anyone refusing to be ‘tested’ will also face an additional 10-day quarantine period meaning a total cost of $4800.00. I will be very interested to see how many people are made to take part in compulsory quarantining and how many of them actually pay for it. For those ‘caught out’ I can see them all “crying poor” or having some form of pathetic excuse why they can’t or shouldn’t have to pay and as is usual, the good old taxpayer ends up footing the bill.

I firmly believe in a crisis situation affecting this country as a whole, all major decisions should be made by the Prime Minister only and not individual Premiers, and the army should be placed in control of the borders, quarantining and even control of any protests, leaving our already overburdened police to concentrate on the overwhelming everyday problems of policing.
