PRESTIGE ADDRESSES DEFY COVID SETBACKS

THE Gold Coast property market has had a stellar start to the year despite the COVID-19 setback with the top 10 residentia­l sales totalling more than

$100 million.

Leading a string of mega deals between January and June was the $25 million sale of the Mermaid Beach family home of BreakFree travel group founder Tony Smith and wife Simone.

The off market sale – reportedly to Pask Group managing director Dean Pask – was the largest in a decade on the Gold Coast and equalled the Queensland record for a residentia­l house.

Days earlier, Simon and Tahnee Beard – the couple behind Gold Coast streetwear giant Culture Kings – paid $11.75 million for 1-3 La Scala Court, Isle of Capri.

That sale price was trumped late last month when $12.45 million changed hands in the sale of 15 Southern Cross Dr, Cronin Island to a Chinese buyer from Sydney.

Once the family home of former Billabong Internatio­nal CEO Matthew Perrin, the sale set a record for the elite Surfers Paradise riverfront enclave.

Also settling in June was the $7 million off-market sale of a near-century old

Queensland­er on 546sq m at 10 Goodwin Tce, Burleigh Heads.

A prime position overlookin­g water was also a major selling point for 17-19 Mount Vista Place, Tamborine where a $7,300,088 million sale settled earlier this month.

The modern home is one of only a few houses fronting Lake of Fred Bucholz Park in the premium Reimore at Tamborine estate.

Back on the beachfront, developers paid $6.5 million in March for a prime 1163sq m site on the Currumbin beachfront at 14 Darwalla Ave.

A far more finished Chris Clout resort design fronting the Coomera River at 2094 The Circle, Sanctuary Cove fetched $6.5 million in February.
