Kordia set to hoof it

- RAY THOMAS

ROSEHILL

GODOLPHIN trainer James Cummings has dismissed concerns boom sprinter Kordia has any hoof issues going into today’s assignment at Rosehill.

In a stewards gear change, Kordia has been fitted with synthetic hoof filler on all four hoofs for the 1200m race.

“We have ‘Equilox’ put on all four feet for Kordia, which is not ideal,’’ Cummings said.

“The reason for it is the horse has thin walls so it’s my farrier’s call, and I’ve put my faith in him.’’

Cummings said Kordia had continued to please the stable since the three-year-old’s brilliant return to racing at Rosehill late last month.

Kordia was having his first start in more than a year and produced a stunning performance to come from near last and score with real authority against older sprinters.

“He’s got the attitude to support his aptitude – he can win again,’’ Cummings said.
