Weekend Gold Coast Bulletin

will be squeezed on top of new residential estates.

Many residents purchased land in new estates as early as 2016, only to find out in November and December 2019 when the first community consultations were undertaken that the Connector was to be built on their doorsteps.

It was also then the Coomera community became aware that Foxwell Rd was to become the main arterial road that links the Connector to the M1. It is therefore no coincidence that the Coomera Connection Consultation Summary Report that was released in June 2020 contained these concerns. It is not right that the State Government has taken so long to consult directly impacted communities.

Some residents have also expressed concern about the Gold Coast City Council approving residential developments butted right up to the border of the transport corridor well before the details of the Coomera Connector were released to the community.

Furthermore, land developers were not upfront by not informing buyers how the transport corridor interacted with the location of their future home.

The State Government, with support from the Gold Coast City Council, should be prepared to make some accommodating amendments to Coomera Connector Stage 1 pathway while still delivering this major infrastructure for everyone’s benefit.

PAUL HOGAN, COOMERA

DEAREST Mr Janssen, I disagree with you totally. However, September 19 is the time for the debate on climate change.

Join your friends at the Nerang Bicentenial Centre at 6.30pm. They will need all the help they can get.

Making future generations pay for our past mistakes is shameful.
