RACE 5 – MAIDEN HANDICAP (1400M)

Centenary Star is fitter for two runs from a spell and wasn’t far away second up when fourth in a 1300m Sunshine Coast Maiden a fortnight ago and gets her chance to break through for her Maiden win. The betting will be the best guide for first starter Olympic Class, who has had three recent barrier trials in preparatio­n for his debut, his latest a second over 1000m at the Gold Coast. Pride Of Jezebel was well beaten last start in a 1200m Gold Coast Maiden but has trialled OK since for a second in a 1000m Gold Coast trial and look for improvemen­t from Rations following her debut eighth in a 1200m Gold Coast Maiden.

RACE 6 – CLASS 4 HANDICAP (1200M)

Mighty Mittere went down narrowly second up when runner up in a 900m Gold Coast Class 4 and he is ready to step up to the 1200m with two runs under his belt. Depths Below is fitter for one run back from a spell and is coming off a handy first-up third in a 1200m NMW Handicap at Eagle Farm a fortnight ago and looks well placed here. Fortificat­ion showed improvemen­t second up with a fourth in a 1300m Gold Coast Benchmark 72 Handicap and look for further improvemen­t, and Ramtastic is up in the weights following his win in a 1200m Beaudesert Class 4 Plate two weeks ago.

RACE 7 – OPEN HANDICAP (1200M)

Papa Jo was back in the winner’s stall last start with an all-the-way win in a 1210m Toowoomba Benchmark 75 Handicap and gets his chance for backto-back wins. Bold Warrior is resuming, not having raced since finishing second in a 1400m Gold Coast Handicap in May. He has been placed first up in the past and has a very good record at the Gold Coast. Sea Raider will have no problem stepping up to the 1200m following his last-start win in a 900m Gold Coast Benchmark 68 Handicap and Coral Bay is on the improve with a secondup third in a 1400m Sunshine Coast Handicap.

RACE 8 – BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP (1200M)

Toujours L’Amour hasn’t been that far away from the winner’s stall of late with two placings from her last two starts, her latest a third in a 1200m Sunshine Coast Benchmark 62 Handicap. Somervell is resuming and will be having his first run for over 12 months and the betting will be the best guide. Picton will strip fitter for one run back from a spell for a third in a 1200m Gold Coast Class 1 and look for improvemen­t, and He’s The News was always in command in scoring an all-the-way win in a 1200m Gold Coast Maiden and can race well again up in grade.
