RACE 5 – BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP (1800m)

Marakopa looks extremely tough to beat in this contest. He returned to the races with a good effort at the Sunshine Coast and this race is no tougher. Barrier seven is ideal and he should have every possible chance in the run. Silesian was dominant at the Sunshine Coast last start and a repeat of that effort would have him right in the mix. William has won over this track and distance in the past. Fabricator failed to fire last start but

I am confident he is a better horse than that effort indicates.

Selections:

5 Marakopa 7 Silesian 6 William 1 Fabricator

RACE 6 – CLASS 3 PLATE (1300m)

Pay With Cash probably cost himself victory at the Gold Coast last start with his erratic racing style and if he behaves himself he will prove tough to beat. Sidekiss won well at the Gold Coast last start and the form coming out of that race has been strong. He will need some luck from the wide barrier draw. Sokudo returned to the races with a good effort at the Gold Coast and he should take improvement from that run. Siesta Key doesn’t win out of turn but her best form would have her right in the mix.

Selections:

2 Pay With Cash 3 Sidekiss 10 Sokudo 11 Siesta Key

RACE 7 – BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP (1400m)

Champagne Toots has been racing well without winning and is ready to peak third-up. Barrier one is ideal and Andrew Mallyon in the saddle is a positive. Smart As Attack has been thereabouts without winning this campaign and this could be his chance. Divine Decadence has three wins from her past four starts and her record over this track and distance is outstanding. The Golden Hind will need luck in running from gate 12 but there was plenty to like about his win at the Sunshine Coast last start.

Selections:

5 Champagne Toots 1 Smart As Attack 2 Divine Decadence 3 The Golden Hind

RACE 8 – CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1400m)

Alignment finished a promising second behind Hard Labour first-up and she generally improves second-up. Run On raced a little bit flat first-up but he should take good improvement from that effort and his second-up record is strong. Our Fraulein was finally able to score a maiden race win at Ipswich last start and there is no reason why she can’t be in the mix once again. Picton is a better horse than his last start effort suggest and has trialled between races.

Selections:

9 Alignment 4 Run On 7 Our Fraulein 8 Picton
