RACE 5 – MAIDEN PLATE (1400m)

Sweet Gold may never have a better chance to claim a maiden race win. She has generally raced in stronger company than this in NSW and Victoria and she is always thereabouts first-up. Centenary Star is a better mare than her form suggests and she had excuses when she was beaten as favourite at the Gold Coast last start. Repetiteur has been transferred to Mitchell Fry after starting her career with Henry Dwyer. She will take good improvement from this run. Dame Margot can improve on her first-up effort at the Sunshine Coast. SELECTIONS

RACE 6 – CLASS 5 PLATE (1400m)

Smart As Attack has been thereabouts this campaign and this could be his chance to return to winning form. Divine Decadence has three wins from her past four starts and her record over this track and distance is outstanding. Lose The Snip has been racing well in tougher company and he has a great record over 1400m. Jackpot Jay drops in class after finishing a credible fifth at Doomben last start. Four of his five race wins have come at the Gold Coast and he has scored three wins from his five starts over this track and distance. SELECTIONS

RACE 7 – CLASS 2 PLATE (1300m)

Sokudo returned to the races with a good effort at the Gold Coast and he should take improvement from that run. Barrier four is ideal and he will have every possible chance with Travis Wolfgram in the saddle. Siesta Key doesn’t win out of turn but her best form would have her right in the mix. Stage Play chased home Kavak at the Sunshine Coast last start and there is no horse of that quality in this field. Miss Too Fly was only narrowly denied at the Gold Coast last start and likely would have won with even luck in running. SELECTIONS

4 Sokudo

8 Siesta Key

11 Stage Play

7 Miss Too Fly

RACE 8 – BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP (1200m)

Sojournist returned to winning form at Ipswich last start and there was plenty of merit in that win. A repeat of that effort would have him right in the mix. Lyrical Prince is a better horse than his laststart effort suggests and he has won over this course and distance in the past. Our Rocky isn’t the most consistent horse in the world but he generally isn’t far away at this level. The Chosen One, not to be confused with the horse of the same name that ran fourth in the Melbourne Cup, has ability and trialled nicely ahead of his return to the races. SELECTIONS

4 Sojournist 3 Lyrical Prince 11 Our Rocky

8 The Chosen One
